LENSEN INSPIRATION & INNOVATION CENTRE: RENOVATION

How do you create a professional, distinctive space that reflects an organisation’s identity – and still feels like home? That question was central to the transformation of the new Lensen Inspiration & Innovation Centre for care + cure in Zaltbommel, the Netherlands. The result is a bold architectural statement – uniting sustainable renovation, material innovation and human-centred thinking.

The façade plays a key role in this transformation. Designed by De Twee Snoeken Architects and realised in close collaboration with Cladding Partners, the new exterior features 560 m² of Pretty Plastic’s First One tiles in four carefully chosen shades: three natural greens (G1, G2, G3) and a warm ochre tone (O1). Made from 100% recycled PVC, the tiles create a layered, tactile façade that reflects the project’s core values: care, creativity and transformation.

More than a cosmetic upgrade, the façade renovation embodies a human-centred design philosophy – creating spaces that support, soothe, and inspire. With its interplay of colour, depth and rhythm, the new cladding brings warmth and dynamism to the building while meeting the highest sustainability standards.

Circular materials, measurable impact

By choosing Pretty Plastic, the project diverted over 12,500 kg of recycled PVC from incineration, resulting in a CO₂ reduction of nearly 49 tonnes. The tiles are not only visually engaging but also support a circular future for the construction industry.

A façade that speaks to the senses

Echoing the sensory richness of the interior, the façade invites interaction and emotion. With tactile surfaces, bold lines and organic tones, it contributes to a healing atmosphere – even before you enter.
